Best Plus-Size Clothing Subscription Box Dia & Co, Stylogic, Nadine West, & Stitch Fix
This post contains affiliate links and I may make a small commission if you purchase from a link, at no additional cost to you.

I’d like to start off by stating I’m an obsessive window shopper. I’m talking wish lists and bookmarks full of clothing items I may or may not buy, and Pinterest boards of outfits I’ll never purchase. All those wasted hours searching for clothes online.

When I found out there were clothing subscriptions, where stylists pick items for you, I couldn’t pass it up. There are quite a few plus size subscription boxes, which is a great thing, but I found myself overwhelmed at the options of companies to choose from.

So I opted to try them all…for science and this blog. The most popular ones I found were Stitch Fix, Dia & Co, Stylogic, and Nadine West. Instead of the traditional paired match-up here at Subscription Box Showdown, I decided to do the ultimate battle of the plus size subscription boxes!

Let’s see if these styling services took my notes and were able to provide me with clothing pieces that fit my style!

Showdown Guide

The Low-Down On This Showdown

These boxes make sure to state that they don’t consider themselves “subscription services” because you don’t have to set up a monthly subscription. You can buy a style box whenever you’d like. It would just be the cost of the styling fee every time.

With that said, you can set up auto shipments to receive new styled boxes at the frequency you want.

To determine pros and cons of each subscription box, we must first establish what they offer and what comes in each box.

Let’s take a look at the contenders:

ROUND 1 - Sign-Up & Cancelling

When you sign up for these subscription boxes, you will complete a style profile/quiz to help your stylist know your size and style preferences.

When I signed up for all 4 boxes, I made sure to answer as many style and preference questions as I could for the best accuracy possible. Also, when I could leave a style note I said to all boxes that:

I hate scoop-neck, off-the-shoulder, halter, and spaghetti strap tops on me. And I would love if most bottoms/jeans have a high-waist fit.

The majority of these boxes have a similar sign up process with what questions they asked, but there were still some differences.

DIA & CO

Dia & Co promotes a “30-Second style quiz”, but it took longer than that. It still was quicker to fill out than the other boxes though. I felt that the quiz was more so just to know my body type and sizes, opposed to my style. They didn’t really ask what items I wanted or didn’t want. It just had general categories like, business, casual, etc. I didn’t like that moto jackets and dressy tops were grouped with dresses under the “Going Out” category. I’m not a dress wearer, but enjoy a good dressy top.

Even so, you can add photos as inspiration, your favorite items you own already, or items in the Dia & Co Shop. You can also send a note/hint to your stylist for what you’re looking for.

STYLOGIC

Stylogic had the most intensive sign up and preference quiz process. It took more time and effort to provide everything they needed to develop my style profile. They asked me to choose which outfits I liked out of the options provided. I only chose one out of them all. If I didn’t like every item in the photo, or was iffy on whether I would wear something like that or not, I didn’t select it for fear that it would mess up my style preferences for the stylist.

After filling out all the style quizzes for these boxes, I had come to the conclusion that either I was too picky or I don’t truly know what my specific style is.

Stylogic included the option to upload images of myself during the style quiz. I assumed this meant full-body photos, so they could see my body shape and things I tend to wear. As a plus size gal, I don’t take many full body pictures, so I had to do some serious CIA deep-diving to find photos in my gallery to upload.

They also asked for my social handles like Pinterest, to view my style preferences and Facebook for actual images of me. I could also directly message my stylist.

NADINE WEST

The style quiz for Nadine West was pretty straightforward. I liked that I could select the type of items I’d like to receive or not. You’ll see later on that this didn’t end up meaning a thing, as I received items that I didn’t want to get.

The sizing to select didn’t seem consistent either. A 3X top was size 22-24, but a 3X bottom was considered 26-28. A little foreshadowing, the bottoms I received fit nowhere near that size anyway. Also, unlike the other quizzes, they didn’t ask anything about body type. Just mostly style preferences.

RETURNING ITEMS

  • Make sure to put which items you’re returning into the return envelope.
  • The $9.78 fee pays for shipping both ways.
  • Can’t exchange or return items after you send package back.

The other subscription boxes can see what you are returning when you rate your items in your account first, before sending back. This is not the case with Nadine West. You have to make sure that your package is scanned by USPS by the return date on the label.  I have heard others having issues with how their packages are returned to Nadine West and being charged the full price of the box because of that.

CANCELLING

You can change the frequency of when you get boxes within your account, but to cancel you have to contact Nadine West directly. If you choose to cancel, you can always re-activate your account later.

STITCH FIX

Of all the style quizzes, I thought Stitch Fix was the most thorough without a lot of effort to complete on my part. I specifically enjoyed the section where they asked my proportions, which tend to have more bearing on what clothes work for my body type than size or weight do.

They asked enough questions on initial sign up, but you are given the opportunity to complete your style profile by answering some more style questions after you are into your account. You’re able to update new preferences periodically if you would like to make your style profile stronger.

Unfortunately, I found myself thumbing down a lot of items in the style preference quizzes. That scared me a little, as I hoped these items weren’t a lot of what would be in the style boxes they send and subscribers have to choose from. I thought that hopefully disliking enough things would make it just as easy to figure out my style, as it would be for me to tell them all the things that I actually like. Sound logic right?

RETURNING ITEMS

Stitch Fix states that they aren’t a subscription service, but have subscription time set ups. They call them “automatic fixes”. Make sure to uncheck if you don’t want to be “subscribed” and just want to try it out. They do suggest doing subscription-based as it helps the stylist learn your style.

Winner: Stitch Fix

The sign-up and cancellation process for these boxes were pretty similar, but I feel Stitch Fix was more straightforward and the perfect amount of information to work off of from the style profile.

ROUND 2 - Value & Quality

My closet right now is all over the place and full of random clothing items that I either impulse bought, things that were trendy at the time, what I thought I was brave enough to wear but never did, and black…LOTS of black.

So styling me should be pretty simple right?

*insert sarcastic snort*

To keep everything fair, I filled out as much information as I could on each company’s style profiles so they all could get a good grasp on what my style is (or sort of is).

I also made sure to add what my dislikes were and items I absolutely did not want. Some boxes listened and some did not.

DIA & CO

“The Trendy Box”

BOX 1

Styled by Crystal S.

Items Kept: 1/5

  1. VICTORIA Baby Doll Non-Stretch Blouse (sz 3X) – $32.00

One shoulder was way too loose. It was as if it was sewn wrong. Quality was bad on this one.

  2. MERI SKYE Bristol Skinny Jean (sz 22) – $49.00

I liked the stretch. They were comfortable and I still got the look and feel of denim jeans. I kept these.

  3. DOWNING STUDIO Henderson Short Sleeve Ruffle Detail Faux Wrap Dress (sz 3X) – $52.00

Bust area was cut way too big and showed too much cleavage. Pattern was great with a jean jacket, but the fabric type was a little too wrinkly for my liking.

  4. MOLLY & ISADORA Casey Split Back Tee (sz 3X) – $29.00

Didn’t like the neckline, as I don’t like scoop neck tops.

  5. VICTORIA Pendant Necklace with Pave Detail – $25.00

Liked the style and length of this necklace, but it’s way too pricey for what i’m willing to spend on jewelry.

BOX 2

Styled by Alexandria C.

Items Kept: 1/5

  1. MOLLY & ISADORA Karlie Lattice Tee (sz 3X) – $32.00

This top was a little too plain for me and I try to stay clear of wearing anything that’s white.

  2. PRESCOTT NEW YORK Deidra Short Sleeve Tie Back Top (sz 3X) – $52.00

The tie on this top was confusing…or i’m just an idiot (which was probably the actual problem). But the tie was stitched towards the front so was confusing where to tie it at.

  3. CELEBRITY PINK Delevan Slim Bootcut Jean (sz 22) – $49.00

I don’t particularly like bootcut jeans, but thankfully these were a skinny boot. I liked the fit of these, so I kept them.

  4. MERI SKYE Miami Wrap Maxi Dress (sz 3X) – $55.00

The material was thin and I didn’t like the pattern. It also looked too matronly on me, even when throwing a jacket over it.

  5. KARA Mixed Metal Multi Strand Necklace – $28.00

This necklace was cute, but again, I didn’t want to spend this amount on a necklace.

Note in Box 2:

  • If you need to see inspiration on how other subscribers have styled items from your box, they have a community photo gallery as well.
  • You can request a new stylist if your current one just isn’t understanding your style and what works for you.

STYLOGIC

“The Ready-to-Wear Box”

BOX 1

Styled by Sadie

Items Kept: 1/5

  1. LIMITED Long Sleeve Lace Inset Blouse (sz 3X) – $58.00

This top wasn’t really my style.

  2. KIYONA Caycee Twist Top (sz 3X) – $52.00

I liked the fit of this top, but I wasn’t in love with it.

  3. MICHAEL KORS Dark Rinse Jeans (sz 22) – $68.00

I really liked these jeans. They fit like a glove. I kept them.

  4. OLIVIA MILLER Laser-Cut T-Strap Sandals (sz 10) – $34.00

These didn’t seem comfortable and I didn’t like how they looked on my feet.

  5. ELOQUII Kady Fit Printed Crepe Pant (sz 22) – $74.00

These pants were a little tight and I didn’t like the pattern…at all.

Note in Box 1:

Stylogic Note From Box 1

BOX 2

Styled by Sadie

Items Kept: 0/5

  1. ELVI Long Sleeve Flocked Velvet Blouse (sz 3X) – $59.00

I did not like this top at all! The shape of this shirt seemed very Shakespeare or theater inspired. The sleeves were puffy and billowy, but tight towards the wrist. Although most of the material of the shirt was sheer, it was a heavy top with the added velvet floral pattern throughout. It honestly didn’t make sense why I was sent this top in the summer.

  2. LYSSE Herringbone Stretch Knit Legging (sz 3X) – $49.00

These pants were too tight. They made it passed my hips, but didn’t fit over my derriere.

  3. ELOQUII Lilac V-Neck Tunic (sz 3x) – $48.00

I loved the color of this top, but the fit was just way to boxy in the front. I didn’t think it was flattering. I did like how it looked from the side though, with the slit and hi-lo cut.

  4. REBEL Dot Print Mesh Wrap Top (sz 3X) – $48.00

This top had a cute shape, but was really short in the torso. Almost a slight crop top.

  5. STYLOGIC Flower Stud Earring – $26.00

These earrings weren’t my style. Very old and vintage looking.

Although Stylogic claims that every box should be a complete outfit, I didn’t feel like this 2nd box was cohesive. It felt more like 5 individual pieces that didn’t relate to each other. This box also didn’t come with shoes this time.

Style Profile Key Points:
  • Wanted to conceal arms, waist, hips, & legs.

Followed Style Profile?

  • Box 1 – Yes
  • Box 2 – Yes

The Specs:

  • You have 7 days to try on your 5 items and return what you don’t want. Contact them if you need an extension.
  • Average price of items is $49, but depends on your style profile.
  • If you keep all items in your box, you get a 20% off discount that will be applied to your entire purchase.
  • Instead of a random assortment of items, each box is meant to be an outfit that they call a “Stylogic Set”.

NADINE WEST

“The On-a-Budget Box”

BOX 1

Items Kept: 0/7

There are no pictures of me in the clothing because (mostly) nothing fit. So I have pictures that they have provided from the site.

  1. Golden Daze Criss cross Front Top (sz 3X) – $25.99

This top was just ok. I had a black top like it already. This top and the dress I received were the only things that actually fit. But I didn’t take a pic of me in it. Sorry 🙁

  2. Debra Top (sz 2X) – $25.99

Wasn’t my size so didn’t fit. There were gaps where the buttons were because of my large chest.

  3. Ultimate Stretch Jean Jeggings (sz 3X) – $25.49

I couldn’t fit these at all. Couldn’t get passed my thighs *sigh*.

  4. Abbey Dress (sz 2X) – $29.99

This dress fit because it’s a flowy shape, but not comfortable wearing dresses. Didn’t get a pic of this one either. Sorry again.

  5. Molten Druzy Studs – $8.99

    Meh.

  6. Ornately Adsila Necklace – $22.99

Too expensive for this type of necklace and not my style.

  7. Wilona Bracelet – $16.99

Cute, but tight on my wrist.

BOX 2

Items Kept: 0/8

  1. Dannie Top (sz 3X) – $26.99

    Didn’t fit over my chest.

  2. Solina Top (sz 3X) – $26.99

    Didn’t fit over my chest.

  3. Staying In Jogger (sz 3X) – $30.99

    Too tight and see through.

  4. Leilani Tie Front Cropped Wide Leg (sz 3X) – $11.99

    Couldn’t fit over thighs.

  5. Larissa Dress (sz 3x) – $29.99

Too tight on my chest, not my style, and fit like a shirt.

  6. Rowen Earring – $11.99

    Not my style.

  7. Nerissa Necklace – $19.99

Tight on neck and not really my style.

  8. Bowen Bracelet – $11.99

Too small/tight on wrist and not my style.

*Because I didn’t keep anything in this box, the $9.78 fee didn’t go towards my purchase so it was non-refundable.

Style Profile Key Points:

  • Want mainly tops, bottoms, earrings & bracelets
  • No necklaces
  • Top size 3X (22-24)
  • Bottom size 3X (26-28)

Followed Style Profile?

  • Box 1 – No – didn’t want necklaces and tops weren’t correct size
  • Box 2 – No – prices of some items were more than I specified

The Specs:

  • You have 5 days to try on your 4-6 items and send back what you don’t want.
  • Item price ranges from $10-30, but depends on your style profile.

STITCH FIX

“The PERSONAL Stylist Box”

BOX 1

Styled by Kaitlin

Items Kept: 0/5

  1. MARKET & SPRUCE Hallport Button Sleeve Top (sz 3X)

I thought the pattern on this top was adorable and would’ve been extra cute visiting Kenosha. I did feel like it had a “nurse’s scrub” look, so I didn’t keep it.

  2. HIATUS Analis Graphic Knit Tee (sz 3X)

This top was really comfortable, but I just wasn’t in love with it enough to keep.

  3. MARC NEW YORK Dayton Acid Wash Moto Detail Legging (sz 3X)

These pants were a soft legging material, which made them comfortable. They had an acid wash look and stitching that was reminiscent of moto pants. I didn’t like how the stitching felt on my legs, as it was a little tight in that part.

  4. KATE SPADE Sylvia Card Holder

This was a card keeper. I didn’t really have any use for it, as I use an actual large wallet.

  5. KAILEIGH Vernon Mixed Material Top (sz 3X)

I liked the style of this shirt with the floral print, but there was a little tear in it, which was disappointing.

I was able to leave a special note for each Stitch Fix box. Like if I was traveling, date out, or just need something special. I was actually going on a weekend trip to Kenosha (a lake town), and told my stylist that in my note. The blue shirt with the white birds that I received was cute, because it was somewhat nautical and was perfect to wear for a day of sightseeing and picture taking around the lake. I assume this was intentional, which means that the stylist actually looked at my notes and researched. I appreciated that a lot.

BOX 2

Styled by Kaitlin

Items Kept: 5/5

  1. COLLECTIVE CONCEPTS Romain V-Neck Blouse (sz 3X) – $48.00

This isn’t typically my style, but I really liked the fit and thought it would make a great work shirt.

  2. VIGOSS Erika Skinny Jean (sz 22w) – $68.00

These literally snatched me in. I was in LOVE with these jeans.

  3. BAY TO BAUBLES Peony Fringe Pendant – $28.00

Despite the price, I thought this necklace was really cute and felt expensive. I didn’t have any gold necklaces like this.

  4. 41 HAWTHORN Karie Split Neck Blouse (sz 3X) – $58.00

The color on this shirt was very cute and i’ve always loved these type of shirts.

  5. DANIEL RAINN Dalina Crochet Detail Knit Top (sz 3X) – $58.00

I really loved the fit and detail on the Daniel Rainn top!

Stitch Fix Daniel Rainn Top Detail Front
Stitch Fix Daniel Rainn Top Detail Back

The note I left this time was that I would love some pieces for a night out/date night and would prefer few, or no dresses with this box.

I felt like everything in this box were staple pieces that I could pair with just about anything. I loved the cut and fit on every item as well. I ended up keeping everything in this box, so I got the 25% off!

Note in Box 2:

Stitch Fix Note From Box 2

Style Profile Key Points:

  • Everything with a tight fit
  • Accentuate cleavage, rear
  • Downplay arms, midsection, and legs
  • For denim, want skinny/straight fit and/or high rise

Followed Style Profile?

  • Box 1 – Yes
  • Box 2 – Yes

The Specs:

  • You have 3 days to try on your 5 items and send back what you don’t want. Can extend your try-on period within your account. I had to do this because I got my package on a Friday and I was already out of town for the weekend.
  • Price of items range from $25-$500, but depends on your style profile.
  • If you keep all items in your box, you get a 25% off discount that will be applied to your entire purchase.

Winner: Stitch Fix

This is the only box that I kept the most items from. Also I had the same stylist for both Box 1 & 2, which I assume helped with styling a great box for me the 2nd time around.

ROUND 3 - Overall Experience

DIA & CO

Overall, I enjoyed my experience with Dia & Co. I at least was able to keep one item from each box that I liked. There were some trendy items in this box as well, which is always nice.

Things I Liked:

  • Extension on try-on period.
  • 25% discount if you purchase full box.
  • Trendy items.
  • Personal note from the stylist in each box.

Things I Didn’t Like:

  • I received WAY too many promotional emails.
  • Style quiz needs to ask more about style.
  • Quality and fit of a couple items wasn’t the greatest.

STYLOGIC

Things I Liked:

  • Longest initial try-on & return period.
  • Only box that gave me shoes to try.
  • Can directly message your stylist.
  • Personal note from the stylist in each box.

Things I Didn’t Like:

  • Sign-up process took the longest and was the most intensive.
  • Site doesn’t keep the history of all the items in your boxes. Only items you’ve bought.
  • 1st box was the longest shipping time of all the boxes. I got 2 Stitch Fix boxes in the time it took to get my 1st box from Stylogic.

*I ordered all of these boxes at the same time around the end of 2019, so shipping time may differ now, especially due to COVID-19.

NADINE WEST

Ok, so i’m going to keep it all the way real with you all. I did not like my experience with this box. I had so much luck with the other boxes and never had a huge problem with the sizing or items being way too small. So I was truly disappointed that nothing fit with Nadine West. I really wanted to like this box because it’s so affordable.

Things I Liked:

  • Larger and more diverse assortment of items to try.
  • Cheapest item price.
  • Referral program is the best out of the boxes, as you get to try for free AND get $10 off your purchase. With the other boxes, you get to try for free but you don’t get the discount.

Things I Didn’t Like:

  • Unlike the other boxes, this one didn’t come with a separate envelope to put your return items in to send back. I didn’t know this and didn’t care how I opened my package. BIG mistake. I found myself trying to fit everything back in like a puzzle and had to use an ungodly amount of tape to get the package closed again. So word of advice, make sure to open your package carefully, as you will have to use this same envelope to send back unwanted items.
  • Nothing fit! They need to do some serious work on the quality of plus size clothing they offer, because honey…this ain’t it.
  • Despite Nadine West’s claim of, “each month features surprise outfits consisting of items perfectly styled just for you. No cookie-cutter packages”, this box felt the most impersonal and less styled. Seemed as if they randomly picked items that were my size (or supposed to be *insert eye roll*) and sent it to me. The style of the items left a lot to be desired as well.
  • Cancelling wasn’t easy and convenient. I had to email the company directly to cancel.
  •  This was also the only box that I did not receive a “stylist note” or knew who styled my box.

STITCH FIX

This was my favorite box by far. I felt like the stylist listened to my notes and took my style quiz into consideration. This box feels the most personalized. I enjoyed being able to constantly update my style preferences to help my stylist get a better understanding of my style.

Things I Liked:

  • Extension for try-on period.
  • Lots of opportunity to tailor your style preferences.
  • Seems like the stylists listen to you.
  • Sizing was accurate.
  • 25% discount if you purchase full box.
  • Personal note from the stylist in each box.

Things I Didn’t Like:

  • I received WAY too many promotional emails.

Winner: Stitch Fix

I couldn’t think of anything major that I didn’t like about my experience with Stitch Fix.

VERDICT - Worth It?

DIA & CO

Would I try again: Yes

Bottom Line: This box has some cute pieces, so it’s a good plus size clothing subscription box to at least try.

STYLOGIC

Would I try again: Maybe

Bottom Line: If I could get a different stylist, I would be willing to try this box again. I just feel that not only did my stylist not “get me”, her styling ability in general left much to be desired.

NADINE WEST

Would I try again: No

Bottom Line: If you are a smaller plus-sized woman or wear “straight sizes”, you may have more luck with the sizing than I did.

STITCH FIX

Would I try again: Yes

Bottom Line: This box actually seems personalized, so if you’re really looking for a stylist, this is a great box.

Overall Winner: Stitch Fix
Honorable Mention: Dia & Co

I too tried Nadine West and StichFix am in total agreement with u our decision. I found Nadine West’s items ALL items were made of the same fabric, a lightweight stretch knit. Was extremely dissatisfied with quality and cost of product. With StichFix I found all the items to be a really good quality. The cost was a bit high but I felt the quality won out.

I continue to get a Stitch Fix box every so often and I am still never disappointed with the quality! Thanks for your comment!
